Gary "Butch" Carey Memorial Parade

Gary "Butch" Carey Memorial Parade
Honor Our Hometown Heroes
Sunday, June 17th, at noon

Recently deceased commissioner and Summer Fun Fest organizer Gary "Butch" Carey loved his community--and a good parade.

Now, that community aims to honor him, picking up where he left off in his parade preparations and making this year's event--renamed the Gary "Butch" Carey Memorial Parade--something even he could appreciate.

Line the streets or step in line; you don't want to miss this special event.

The parade steps off at noon on Sunday, June 17th, beginning at Trexler Ave. and Walnut Street (by the Elks) and concluding at Columbia Avenue and Walnut Street (by Casey's).

The fun continues down at the Fest grounds, with Celtic rock band The Larkin & Moran Brothers taking the stage at 4 p.m., followed by Oglesby favorite The Blooze Brothers at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the rides will be spinning all day, from 1 p.m. to close, with $25 unlimited ride wristbands available. The craft & vendor show will be bustling, the beer garden will be overflowing, the food trucks serving and--come about 9:30 p.m.--the night sky, alight with a huge fireworks show. And don't forget, someone is going to win big in the 50/50 jackpot drawing at 9 p.m.!

The parade route is approximately 1.25 miles long.
