This year's Kids Party in the Park will be more of a party than ever before!

Oglesby Summer Fun Fest welcomes children ages 3 to 8 and their caregivers to an afternoon of free activities on Saturday, June 16th, from 2 to 4 p.m., thanks to the generous support of Illinois Valley Community Hospital, the Oglesby Police Department and  John's Service and Sales.

Because of the growing popularity of this event, the format is changed from previous years. The Party--itself SFF's centerpiece for family fun--will center around a concert by award-winning children's singer and songwriter Julie K. Julie's energetic performance will have the little ones (and their parents) singing along, clapping their hands and stomping their feet.

Performances are set for 2 and 3:15 p.m.

There will, of course, be plenty else to keep the kids busy. Party-goers will be able to get their faces painted or have a glitter tattoo put on by our talented friends from Wild Style Design. Summertime treats for the kids--such as Sno-cones, cotton candy and popcorn--will be served.

Participants can sign up to win a slew of "Experience It!" prize packages, including a season pass to the Oglesby Pool, White Sox and Cornbelters tickets, family water park passes, Echo Bluff gift certificates and a pizza party.

The first 200 kids through the gate will also receive a goodie bag featuring a day pass to Oglesby Pool and a free small cone from The Rootbeer Stand.

More than 300 kiddos and their parents attended our event last year. Consistent sponsorship ensures this event is free and, therefore, open to all. Many thanks to our sponsors, including Claudette's and Casey's General Store!

Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets from which to enjoy the concert.

The Party in the Park is only one part of the larger Summer Fun Fest, which boasts a fantastic midway and carnival at its core. North American Midway—one of the Midwest’s top productions, focused on safe, family fun—will be offering wristband specials each day. For $25, festivalgoers can ride unlimited rides—a perfect Party in the Park encore!

Parents might also want to check out the popular kiddie parade, held earlier in the morning. Participants decorate their bikes, trikes and wagons and parade from City Hall down Dale Avenue to Dickinson House, where refreshments and prizes are handed out.

In fact, there's all sorts of fun going on in Oglesby on Saturday, from city-wide yard sales to the library's used book sale, from a Cruise-In at the Rootbeer Stand to a rockin' teen dance party.  And, of course, lots of free musical entertainment, including The Golden Voice of Elvis, The Neverly Brothers and RockStar Rodeo.
