"Buddy and Beyond:" A Buddy Holly Tribute by Johnny Rogers

Buddy and Beyond
A Buddy Holly Tribute by Johnny Rogers
Sunday, July 9, at 3:30 p.m.
Heartland Bank Stage

Johnny Rogers is in the business of bringing yesteryear’s music and history of rock ‘n’ roll to life with his outstanding music tribute to the great Buddy Holly and legends beyond.

And at Oglesby Summer Fun Fest, we're in the business of bringing in the best.

So join us as we host Buddy and Beyond at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 9th, as part of the Summer Fun Fest finale. They'll rock the Heartland Bank Stage. Enjoy Johnny's show, then stay later for Sounds of Summer a Beach Boys Tribute at 6:30 p.m. End the night with drawing for our huge 50/50 jackpot and the area's best fireworks show

From “Peggy Sue,” “That’ll Be The Day,” “Maybe Baby” and “Oh Boy,” Buddy Holly influenced the cutting edge styles and sounds of such standouts as Elvis, the Beatles, Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones, and no-one captures the essence of this true icon like Johnny Rogers.

Together with his rollicking band and his searing guitar, Johnny gives us an uncanny portrayal of Buddy, a tribute style that has gained endorsement from both members of Buddy’s immediate family and band. Of course, Johnny isn’t the only performer in the show, and Buddy isn’t the only legend recognized.

In Buddy & Beyond, audience members travel along a virtual timeline of music and experience the progression of rock. Whether shaking your hips to the sounds of The King, reminiscing over the heartbreak crooning of Roy Orbison, catching the guitar train of Johnny Cash or delighting in Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire,” each tribute throughout Buddy & Beyond is sure to strike a chord!

Summer Fun Fest will wrap up its family-friendly offerings on Sunday in typical larger-than-life form. Stop by the craft and vendor fair, enjoy unlimited rides at the fabulous carnival, try your luck on the midway, laugh along with the talented Great Lakes lumberjacks--all before we get things rockin'!
