Illinois Patriot Guard Memorial Wall

Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall
on display Saturday, June 28th

The Illinois Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall started as one Illinois Patriot Guard member’s desire to honor on his motorcycle trailer not only his fallen grandson but all of the state’s soldiers killed during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Patriot Guard—a group of motorcycling men and women who honor fallen soldiers by attending their funerals at the request of the family—adopted the idea as their own. A traveling memorial was born, a memorial that has covered more than 30,000 miles as it visited more than 60 locations throughout Illinois.

The Patriot Guard and their Memorial Wall will set up display at Oglesby’s Summer Fun Fest on Saturday, June 28th. Residents and visitors alike can honor the soldiers and the nation they died serving by viewing the wall and participating in other events on our informal celebration of service members.

The generosity of Oglesby Knights of Columbus is a part of making this SFF display possible.

Three service bands--Horizon, a U.S. Navy Ensemble, 144th Army concert Band and Permanent Party, the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest--will perform and a Veterans Mobile Medical Unit will be available to serve local veterans.
